Aesop on Olympus
This is a digital handout about the Greek goddesses and gods in the fables of Aesop. This is not a complete account of all the doings of the goddesses and gods in the fables, just a sample of some fables in English with illustrations. You can find more illustrated Aesop's fables here: Aesop's Books: illustrated fables you can read online.
Here is a Table of Contents:
Jupiter and the Tortoise | Jupiter and the Camel | Jupiter and the Frogs | Mercury and the Woodman | The Philosopher and Mercury | Juno and the Peacock | Athena and the Olive | Venus and the Cat | Jupiter and the Fox | Apollo's Oracle | Hercules and the Wagoner | Saint Peter and the Farmer
You will see that the fables listed here have "Perry" numbers with them. The edition of Aesop's fables by the scholar Ben Perry is a standard reference work. There are many different versions of Aesop's fables by different authors in different languages, and the Perry number is a common reference system that is used to group the same fables together.
