High School Info
Introduction
Students can only register for a course that they have already taken during the school year.
A minimum grade of 40% is required to re-take a summer school course. Students with a mark under 40% can attend with the permission of the administrative team at their high school. Permissions can be e-mailed to gary.wilson@nbed.nb.ca.
Summer School can help current high school students in a number of ways:
Students who fail a course during the school year can take the course over again for course credit. This helps students stay on track to graduate with their class. The mark that they get in summer school will appear on their academic transcript.
Post-Secondary institutions often have minimum grade averages, or a minimum mark may be required on a specific course. Often students will repeat a course that they have already passed in the hopes of getting a higher mark. The summer school mark appears on a student’s transcript and is used to determine admission and any potential scholarships.
Important Pre-Registration Information
Students are not permitted to take a course unless they have already taken it; otherwise, your school can not accept your mark if you do.
Students who have already taken a course may retake it to improve their mark in order to apply to community college or university.
Students are required to have a grade of 40% or more in the course to enroll.
Students with grades lower than 40% must seek permission from their Principal or Vice-Principal to attend summer school.
