For Promotion from PTE to LCP, cadets are expected to:

(1) Pass Junior Cadet proficiency Test consists of:

- Turnout and Bearing

- Foot Drill

(2) Attend Camp FORGE

(3) Achieve Bronze award for Total Defence

For promotion from LCP to CPL, cadets are expected to:

(1) Pass the Senior Cadet Proficiency Test consisting of:

- Turnout and Bearing

- Foot Drill

- Individual Field Craft

(2) Pass SAR21 Classification Test (IMT)

(3) Attend Camp STEEL

(4) Achieve Silver award for Total Defence

(5) Pass NAPFA

For promotion from CPL to 3SG, cadets are expected to:

(1) Pass the Cadet Leader Proficiency Test/ Mutual Test consisting of:

- Turnout and Bearing

- Foot Drill

- Individual Field Craft

(2) Pass SAR21 Classification Test (IMT/Live Range)

(3) Pass Specialist Assessment

(4) Pass NMI Sea Module

For promotion from CPL to 3SG, cadets are expected to:

(1) Pass the Cadet Leader Proficiency Test/ Mutual Test consisting of:

- Turnout and Bearing

- Foot Drill

- Individual Field Craft

(2) Pass SAR21 Classification Test (IMT/Live Range)

(3) Pass Specialist Assessment

(4) Pass NMI Sea Module

For promotion from 2SG, cadets are expected to:

(1) Exceed expectation for the Cadet Leader Proficiency

Test/ Mutual Test consisting of:

- Turnout and Bearing

- Foot Drill

- Individual Field Craft

(2) Participated in NDP

(3) Achieved attendance of at least 80%

For promotion to SSG, cadets are expected to:

(1a) Complete and pass Senior Specialist Course OR

(1b) Complete and pass LEADERS CAMP

(2) Hold leadership appointment in unit

(3) Be recommended by CO

For promotion from SSG to MSG, cadets are expected to:

(1) Attain Staff Sergeant rank

(2) Hold USM or ASM appointment in the unit

(3) Be recommended by CO

(4) Be approved by Commandant
