THE SHORT VERSION
Zone 2 Coach does not collect anything. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server. Everything the app records stays on your phone, and uninstalling the app deletes all of it. The optional Pro upgrade is sold through Google Play, which handles the payment.
WHO THIS COVERS
This policy applies to the Android application Zone 2 Coach, formerly Aerobase (package io.zonetwo.trainer), distributed through Google Play.
DATA WE COLLECT
None. The developer receives no data from the app, of any kind. There is no sign-up, no login, no user identifier, no crash reporting SDK, no analytics SDK and no advertising SDK in the application. The only third-party component is Google's billing library for the optional Pro purchase, described below.
DATA THE APP STORES ON YOUR DEVICE
The app writes the following to its own private storage on your phone. It is never transmitted anywhere.
Training sessions: heart rate over time, time spent in and out of your chosen zone, heart rate recovery, heart rate variability figures, session notes and any blood pressure values you choose to type in yourself.
- Resting readings: the heart rate variability measurements you take, and the score computed from them.
- Settings: your zone limits, alert preferences, resting and maximum heart rate.
- Chest strap details: the name and Bluetooth address of the last strap you connected, so the app can reconnect to it automatically.
- A connection log: a short technical record of Bluetooth events, kept only to help you diagnose connection problems.
FILES YOU EXPORT
When you tap an export button, the app writes a CSV or text file into your device's Downloads folder. Nothing is exported unless you ask for it.
PURCHASES (ZONE 2 COACH PRO)
Zone 2 Coach Pro is an optional one-time purchase that unlocks extra features. It is sold and processed entirely by Google Play: your payment details go to Google, never to the developer and never to the app.
To offer the purchase, the app includes Google's Play Billing Library. It starts only when you open the Pro screen, or at launch once you own Pro, so that the purchase stays in sync (refunds included). While it runs, it talks to the Google Play Store app on your phone and sends Google diagnostic information about the billing service itself. That information is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). None of your training or health data is involved.
The app keeps a single flag on your phone saying whether Pro is unlocked, so that Pro also works offline. As with every Google Play purchase, Google gives the developer the order details (such as the order number, product and price), used only to manage the sale, refunds and support requests.
PERMISSIONS, AND WHY EACH ONE EXISTS
Nearby devices / Bluetooth: to find and connect to your heart rate chest strap. The scan permission is declared with neverForLocation: the app does not use Bluetooth to derive your location.
Location (Android 11 and older only): older versions of Android required this permission for any Bluetooth scan. The app does not read, use or store your location.
Notifications: to show the ongoing notification while a session is running.
Foreground service (connected device): to keep the strap connected and the alerts working while the screen is off or the app is in the background.
Prevent device from sleeping: to keep recording during a session.
Vibration: for the alerts.
Internet and network state: used only by Google's Play Billing Library for the optional Pro purchase (see above). Zone 2 Coach itself sends none of your data anywhere. You can verify this by putting the phone in airplane mode: every training feature still works.
Billing: lets the app offer the Pro purchase through Google Play.
HEALTH DATA
Heart rate, heart rate variability and the optional single-lead trace are health-related information. They are recorded on your device at your request, they are used only to show you your own numbers, and they are never transmitted. Zone 2 Coach does not connect to Health Connect, Google Fit or any other health platform.
DELETING YOUR DATA
Inside the app: Session history - Clear history, and Reading log - Clear log.
Everything at once: uninstall the app, or use Settings - Apps - Zone 2 Coach - Storage - Clear data.
Files you exported to Downloads are yours to delete like any other file.
CHILDREN
Zone 2 Coach is a training tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE
Zone 2 Coach is training software. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and nothing it displays is a medical opinion. If you have symptoms or a medical condition, talk to a doctor.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same address with a new date at the top.
