About AEPEL:
The Applied Electromagnetics & Power Electronics Laboratory (AEPEL) at the Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) was founded in 2023 under the direction of Dr. Suyong Choi. Our primary interests lie in electromagnetic propulsion and levitation, electromagnetic shielding, wireless power transfer, electromagnetic interaction between high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet and tube infrastructure for Hyperloop.
Our Mission:
To advance our understanding of applied electromagnetics and power electronics for Hyperloop and Military applications
Our Goals:
1) To understand the mechanical and electrical design issues and problems
2) To identify and understand system integration issues and problems that may prevent its commercialization
3) To increase the performance and efficiency of high-power electromagnetic propulsion and levitation system
4) To establish the new theories on the future electromagnetics as a pioneer.
