Recovery & Restoration

Working Group

Vulnerable communities in the South bear a double burden

when it comes to the impacts of the dirty energy industry and climate change. On the one hand, many community members rely on jobs in the dirty energy sector.

On the other hand, they also suffer from the effects of the extraction-based practices of the industry, rarely having access to adequate emergency response mechanisms or community based solutions for equitable disaster recovery.

Policies and programs that reflect community involvement and global connectivity

policies and programs that reflect community involvement and global connectivity can contribute to resilience, resistance, disaster planning, and sustainability, and are more effective when instituted as part of broad investment strategies that strengthen a community’s ability to manage adversity and influence transformative change.
