Welcome to the Alternative Energy Materials (AEM) group at IIT Bhubaneswar. The group is led by Dr. Sivaiah Bathula and his research work primarily focuses on the development of novel and cost-effective thermoelectric materials with enhanced figure-of-merit. To realize high thermoelectric performance, we employ the following strategies, including Nanostructuring, Band engineering, Compositional Modulation, and Composite approaches. Further, our group explicitly works on thermoelectric device fabrication employing indigenously developed thermoelectric materials, which is the central heart of the research. Also, our group developing suitable contact materials for device fabrication (Ohimc Contacts) for mid-temperature applications, as these contact materials are crucial in obtaining high power output efficiency.

Priority research areas:

New Materials development for Energy Conversion

Conversion of Mine Waste into usable Thermoelectric Materials

Flexible Energy Materials Energy for Medical Applications

Contact Engineering of Thermoelectric Devices

We are interested in working with highly motivated students who wish to pursue their career in the area of “Thermoelectric Materials and Devices”. If you are interested, you can drop an email at sivaiahb@iitbbs.ac.in with a brief proposal related to the topic that you are interested along with your latest CV.
