Aloha AECT International Division Members!
I want to take this opportunity to greet all of you and extend a warm welcome to join us at the AECT 2025 convention. I hope everything is going well for you this semester. Looking back, 2025 went by fast and we will be welcoming the new year soon.
Fall semesters are busy and I always look forward to the AECT convention because it gives me time to relax, meet friends from other universities, and most importantly make new friends. AECT 2025 is just around the corner (October 20-24) and I hope to see many of you there. Some of you are traveling from other countries as well and I am excited to meet you all in Las Vegas.
Thanks to our conference planning team, we have a wonderful array of sessions to attend. With several changes happening across the globe this year owing to technological advances let's take some time to pause and think. There are some tough decisions to make regarding ethics and the use of Artificial Intelligence and other new technologies. The AECT 2025 theme, I believe, addresses just that - Refocus: The Future in Educational Technology.
The International Division has planned a variety of events. Noteworthy among them is the Awards & Auction function on October 22nd from 7- 9 pm and the ID Dinner on October 21st from 5 - 7 pm. As always, we will host the Jenny K Johnson Hospitality Center and I hope to see many of you there. Look for our flyers and reminders on HigherLogic.
This year was very eventful and the board participated in several events organized by the AECT board such as the Summer Leadership Meeting and Meet & Greet events with the international affiliates. With the goal to serve the needs of researchers, practitioners, and students, we organized several professional development events that were interactive, informative, and highly motivating. We have also made productive connections with our international affiliates who are part of our support structure. I am glad that many affiliate members will be joining us in Vegas.
Thanks to the excellent International Division board members and various committee members, who have volunteered their valuable time to serve our division. Without them we would not have accomplished our goals for the year 2024-25. My sincere thanks and appreciation for all that you do, did, and will keep doing.
Thank you very much! Nandri! Mahalo!
See you all in Las Vegas !!!!!
Shamila Janakiraman
