Photographers have a rich history of personal correspondence. Engaging with that tradition, teens were assigned 'pen pals' with whom they traded images for a week.
One photographer would send an image and the other would reply in kind. Learning to read and relate images based on their compositions, subject matter and tonal values was a fun challenge. Seeing what and how partner's responded, provided opportunities to learn about each other and their own photographic practices.
