I've been building Duncan over the 3 years. The build has been all about enabling remote camping in the national forests and BLM that cover 60% of the PNW and Mountain West.
The base for the build is a 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road 6MT crew cab / short bed. No modifications have been made to the engine, drivetrain, suspension or exhaust.
The tent is a Tuff Stuff Overland Ranger 3. It has a "down stairs" that cab be used when privacy is needed, or the weather turns cold and wet. I've added foam padding under the factory mattress to increase comfort and insulation.
The truck has been built with 3 sets of auxiliary lights:
A 32" NiLight light bar center mounted on the roof rack
2x NiLight 6 LED spot lights oriented as "ditch" lights mounted on the roof rack
2x NiLight flood lights rear facing mounted on the rear roof rack under the tent
These lights are the most recent edition, and have improved off road driving and camp setup.
Up front, the truck is built out with a Prinsu rack, with Rhino Rack heavy bars to support the tent.
Up top we have a Jazz Sleeping Bag to keep us toasty
We rely on a Weber Grill and Mountain Chef Teton for making tasty treats
After breaking two Luminoodles, we have transitioned to cheap string lights from Amazon. They are not as bright, but they come in fun colors
Beats are provided by a Aomis Go speaker, which can also be used for supplemental power
The truck sites on Old Man Emu BP-51s with OME heavy leaves and Race Light control arms.
The newest addition is a Sunseeker 2.5m from Rhino Rack
