When he/she has good reason to believe that the certification is desired for an unlawful or improper purpose. Travel
A notary may charge a travel fee when traveling to perform a notarial act if 13 1. the Notary and the person requesting the notarial act agree upon the travel fee in advance of the travel, and 2. the Notary explains to the person requesting the notarial act that the travel fee is both separate from the notarial fee in Subsection (a) and neither specified nor mandated by law.
The notary shall not sign any documents outside of the jurisdiction of the state. Any services rendered in this manner shall be deemed void and illegal. Out-of-state documents may, however, be signed within the notary's jurisdiction but are subjected to the rules and regulations under the State of MS notary laws.
Section 25-33-1 et seq. Mississippi Code of 1972 as amended.
Payment. Prior to Act. A. A notary may require payment of any fees specified in Section 302 before a notarial act performance. B. Any fees paid to a notary before the performance of a notarial act are non-refundable if: 1. the act was completed; or 2. in the case of travel fees paid in compliance with Section 302, the act was not completed for reasons stated in Sections 201--206 after the Notary had traveled to meet the principal.
Fees. Fees are charged per hour; a quote will be made upon notification of the job being performed, which is agreed upon by the notary and the client. These fees are non-negotiable and contingent on documents needing the signature.
There is no obligation for services, and both parties, client and Notary, may withdraw services at any time. Once services are agreed upon, a signature is required within 24-48 hours, and payment is due at the time of service.
