We were extremely happy with how our final image turned out!
The Dean of the SMFA came to Tufts, we took her picture, and drew it in under 30 minutes!
There were a few things, however, that didn't quite go to plan. First, the lighting in the photo we took was a little dark and different from the stock photos we had been practicing with. This caused a lot of her face to be dominated by one color. Additionally, a lot of her clothes were the same color as her hair. This caused us to draw a lot of her clothes with the "hair color", which actually gave her clothes a nice two-color look.
The biggest issue in this painting was the servo motors on the turret. When we ran our test lines minutes before she arrived everything was working great. Then when we started to draw her it was as if the motors lost power. The turret could drop down but could not lift itself back up. It was also slow to change colors. This is likely why the lip color is not as pronounced. We are not really sure why this happened but think it was a problem with the power being supplied through the maker board from the RIO. In order to ensure that the turret lifted all the way, it had to be helped by hand.
