Welcome to the Google Cloud Advanced Computing Community. Our mission is to create a vibrant, collaborative, and professional environment for individuals working with High-Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and other advanced computing technologies. We are dedicated to fostering learning, innovation, and networking.
This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all participants in our community, both in online and in-person settings. Participation in our community is open to all who are committed to behaving professionally and representing themselves honestly. Adherence to this code is a prerequisite for that participation.
We expect all community members, presenters, sponsors, and event staff to abide by the following core principles:
Be Respectful and Inclusive: We are a diverse community of professionals from various backgrounds. We expect participants to be respectful of differing viewpoints, experiences, and identities. Treat everyone with courtesy and consideration.
Act with Integrity: Conduct yourself with honesty and intellectual rigor. The trust and credibility of our community depend on the integrity of its members.
Foster a Collaborative Environment: Encourage open dialogue and the sharing of ideas. Frame discussions and questions constructively to help the entire community learn and grow.
Maintain a Professional Focus: All activities and communications should be relevant to the topics of advanced computing. This is not a venue for unsolicited commercial activities or off-topic discussions that detract from the community's purpose.can ensure it remains a welcoming, valuable, and respected forum for all.
These guidelines apply across all community channels and events, including weekly online sessions, in-person workshops, and networking events.
3.1. Honest and Professional Representation
Your professional reputation is valued here. To maintain a high-trust environment, we require that you:
Represent Yourself Accurately: Use your real name and, where appropriate, your current professional affiliation. Do not misrepresent your identity, credentials, expertise, or affiliation.
Be Truthful in Your Contributions: When presenting information or engaging in discussion, do so honestly and to the best of your ability. Acknowledge the work and contributions of others where appropriate.
3.2. Online Session Etiquette (Presentations, Chat, and Q&A)
Our online sessions are dynamic learning environments. To ensure they are effective and respectful for everyone please ensure you participate accordingly in each of our tools:
Chat Window:
Do: Use the chat for professional introductions, sharing relevant resources, and expressing constructive on-topic comments.
Do Not: Spam the chat with repetitive messages, self-promotion, or off-topic conversations that disrupt the flow of the presentation. Avoid private arguments or overly personal discussions in the main chat.
Q&A:
Do: Ask clear, concise, and constructive questions that are relevant to the presentation. Be patient and respectful of the time given to other attendees' questions.
Do Not: Use the Q&A feature to make statements disguised as questions, to criticize the presenter or other participants, or to dominate the discussion.
3.3. In-Person Event Conduct (Workshops and Networking)
Professional Demeanor: Conduct yourself professionally at all times. This includes respecting personal boundaries, being mindful of your surroundings, and adhering to the rules and policies of the event venue.
Constructive Networking: Engage with others to learn and build professional connections. Do not engage in aggressive sales tactics or harassment.
Respect for Property: Treat all event equipment and facilities with care.
The following behaviors are considered unacceptable and will not be tolerated:
Harassment and Discrimination: Any form of harassment or discrimination, including unwelcome comments or conduct related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or national origin.
Intimidation or Threats: Intimidating, threatening, or stalking any participant.
Disruption: Deliberately disrupting presentations, workshops, or other events.
Inappropriate Content: Posting or displaying sexually explicit or violent material, or engaging in inappropriate physical contact.
Misrepresentation: Deliberately impersonating another person or misrepresenting your professional credentials and affiliation.
Unauthorized Solicitation: Unsolicited and inappropriate promotion of commercial products or services.
If you witness or are subject to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please promptly contact the session moderator, an event organizer, or email our community leadership at gcacc@google.com.
All reports will be treated seriously and investigated confidentially.
Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. Based on a review of the circumstances, the community organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including:
A formal warning to the offender.
Temporary suspension from community activities.
Permanent expulsion from the community and all future events, without refund if applicable.
