Advanced PDFSafeScan is a browser extension that helps users scan PDF links and PDF files for safety before opening them.
What the extension processes
- PDF URLs and PDF-related scan inputs when a user chooses to scan a PDF
- Downloaded PDF source URLs and file names when automatic PDF scanning is enabled
- Extension settings such as backend URL, dashboard URL, API token, notification preferences, and scan preferences
- Recent scan results shown in the extension interface
How the information is used
- To submit scan requests to the configured backend scanning service
- To display scan results to the user
- To support notifications and automatic PDF scanning
- To save user settings and extension state
Data sharing
- The extension does not sell user data
- The extension does not use or transfer user data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or unrelated purposes
- Data is only transmitted as needed to the configured backend service to perform PDF scanning requested by the user
Data storage
- The extension stores limited settings and recent scan state using browser storage
- The extension does not intentionally collect unrelated browsing history, personal communications, payment data, health data, or authentication credentials
User control
- Users can change extension settings at any time
- Users can remove the extension at any time through the browser
Security
- Reasonable efforts are made to limit data use to the extension’s stated purpose
- Users should only use trusted backend services
