About the Space Philosophies Course
The Space Philosophy course is designed to communicate the urgency of expanding humanity
to outer space for the general audience.
The question “why space exploration?” Is the main focus of the course. This question is
particularly important for emerging space countries as the answer can steer the funding of
space activities and projects. Traditionally, the answer to the question “Why Space Exploration?”
mentions spin off technologies that impacted life on earth. It is true that developing space
technologies can potentially lead for applications on earth, the course discusses deeper
philosophies and concepts concerning the survivability of human civilization.
The growth of human civilization in a world with scarce resources alongside the threat of global
warming and mass destruction weapons seems to be unsustainable in the future. The course
identifies the link between human civilization and expanding humanity to outer space.
Because the general audience are concerned, the first half of the course discusses about the
new paradigm in the space industry. Today, we are witnessing a trend that never existed 15
years ago and we are in the beginning of a revolution in the space industry.
The second half of the course explains space philosophies like Astronautical Humanism and
Cosma Hypothesis. We don’t focus on engineering or technological aspects of the space
industry, but we prefer to spark intellectual discussion to draw the big picture why we see
expanding humanity to outer space as an existential matter. Our Supporters inspired us through
their publications and lectures to bring this course to you.
The Space Philosophies Course is a 3-hour course and can be offered online or in person with
