CASAE is very pleased to announce a grant for graduate students. The Adult Literacy Conference Support Grant for Graduate Students was created by a generous donor/supporter to assist with the costs for graduate students presenting at a conference on topics related to adult literacy. Literacy is broadly defined to comprise print, digital, and multimodal meaning making in learners’ first and local languages, including story and the arts, oriented to access, cultural renewal, democratic participation, resistance, skill development, and so on. Adult literacy research that is supported by the grant includes pedagogy, theory, policy, history, program development and research approaches related to the literacy education of adults who have been excluded from or marginalized within mainstream education systems.
If you would like to be considered for the Adult Literacy Conference Support Grant for Graduate Students for 2026, please complete the Google Form HERE. The application process will be closed on Friday July 31, 2026.
For the purpose of this grant only, recently graduated students (within the last six months), will also be considered for application.
The amount of the grant will depend upon the number of applicants and the amount of need as we strive to distribute resources equitably. Only proposals with clear connections to adult literacy research will be considered. A committee will adjudicate all proposals.
CASAE greatly appreciates this generous sponsorship in support of adult literacy scholarship. Information about the successful recipients will be shared with the donor/supporter.
Supporter: Adult Education and Literacy Fund at the Toronto Foundation (https://torontofoundation.ca/adult-education-and-literacy-fund).
