My Projects
My Projects
Here are some of the projects I have worked on across healthcare, pharmacy, research, and data analysis. These projects reflect my interest in using data and scientific research to understand real-world problems.
Healthcare Data Analysis | Power BI | Excel | Public Health
I analysed health screening data collected during a community medical outreach in Gbazango Kubwa, Abuja.
The dataset contained information from 150 participants, including age, sex, blood pressure, pulse rate, random blood sugar, malaria screening, Hepatitis B screening, deworming status, and referral status.
I looked at the data to answer questions such as:
What were the main health findings among the participants?
What patterns could be seen in blood pressure and blood glucose results?
What was the malaria and Hepatitis B screening outcome?
Which groups appeared to have higher levels of certain health conditions?
What factors were associated with referral for further care?
I cleaned and organised the data in Microsoft Excel and used Microsoft Power BI to analyse and visualise the results.
I created calculated fields using DAX for age groups, blood pressure classification, blood glucose classification, and referral standardisation.
The analysis found that:
59.4% of participants with available blood pressure readings were classified as having Stage 1 or higher hypertension.
20.4% of participants with available blood glucose readings had results above the normal range.
42% of participants tested positive for malaria.
12.1% of participants tested positive for HBsAg.
32 participants (21.3%) were referred for further care.
This project gave me practical experience working with real healthcare data rather than a classroom dataset.
It also taught me the importance of checking missing data, choosing appropriate classifications, and being careful about how health screening results are interpreted. The dataset had missing values for some measurements, and the outreach was based on voluntary participation, so the findings should not be treated as representative of the entire community.

PROJECT 2
Pharmaceutical Research | Drug Delivery | Formulation
This was my undergraduate pharmaceutical research project at Madonna University, focused on developing and evaluating piroxicam transdermal patches and investigating the effect of polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG 400) on their physicochemical properties.
The study aimed to determine the effect of PEG 400 on the physicochemical properties of piroxicam transdermal patches.
Develop sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (SCMC)-based piroxicam transdermal patches with and without PEG 400.
Evaluate and compare the physicochemical properties of the formulated patches.
Assess parameters including folding endurance, moisture content, moisture uptake, swelling index, percentage elongation, drug content and in-vitro drug release.
Different batches of piroxicam transdermal patches were formulated using sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, with and without PEG 400.
The formulated patches were evaluated using a range of physical and pharmaceutical tests, including physical appearance, thickness, weight uniformity, swelling index, moisture content, folding endurance, moisture uptake, drug content, percentage elongation and in-vitro drug release.
The study found that incorporating PEG 400 improved the physicochemical properties of the formulated piroxicam transdermal patches.

PROJECT 3
Public Health Research | Survey Research | Data Analysis
This was a community-based research project conducted among women in three areas of Makurdi, Nigeria: North Bank, Wurukum and Wadata.
The study examined participants' knowledge of breast cancer risk factors and their attitudes towards the disease.
The study aimed to investigate the knowledge of breast cancer risk factors and attitudes towards breast cancer among women in selected areas of Makurdi.
A cross-sectional survey was conducted between August and November 2023 among 200 women aged 18 years and above.
Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 22. The analysis included frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviations, as well as t-tests and one-way ANOVA.
98.5% of participants were aware of breast cancer.
The mean knowledge score was 1.9 ± 0.83.
The overall correct response rate to the knowledge questions was 23.8%.
95% of participants demonstrated poor knowledge of breast cancer risk factors.
Age, marital status, education and awareness were significantly associated with knowledge of breast cancer risk factors (p < 0.05).
The study found that awareness of breast cancer was high, but knowledge of its risk factors was generally low.
The findings highlighted the need for culturally appropriate breast cancer awareness and education programs within the community.
