Music

When not in the lab, I'm often either behind turntables or in my modest home studio.

I DJ and produce under the name Senor Peludo (a nickname I acquired while briefly living in Belize). I'm comfortable on a variety of mediums, from old vinyl 45s to digital midi controllers with custom mappings. I have played at numerous venues and performing art festivals, including several appearances at Burning Man. My sound is typically characterized by recognizable samples mixed with funk, breakbeats and old school hip hop acapellas, though I also delve into house/electro, tech-house, disco and drum & bass.

I'm the founder of Sunken Disco, New Haven's premier DJ night for underground electronic music. We throw deliberately unpretentious club nights, focusing on creating a fun and welcoming vibe that people attend for dancing, not posing or being sleazy. We play a variety of accessible underground electronic music, mainly focusing on Funk, House, Breaks, Electro and whatever else we feel works in the moment. We never play Top-40 and will probably look disappointed if you request a Top-40 song. We typically throw our parties in downtown New Haven, but have also hosted Sunken Disco events in a Planetarium and on a beach. I take care of all the booking, graphic design and the majority of promotion for Sunken Disco.

You can hear some of my DJ mixes and tracks on my Soundcloud page.

Scene from our Tropical party (July 2017). We gave out 50 flower garlands, DJ'd for 8 hours and broke the door record for the club (they'd been open for 8 years at the time).

I design all my own artwork for my musical releases. Here are a few examples, each of which attempts to capture the mood of the song/mix or reference a sample that I've used.
