Extension: Ad Group Cleaner

Effective Date: May 7, 2026
Ad Group Cleaner is a productivity tool designed to streamline repetitive ad group editing tasks and save you time. This Privacy Policy details exactly what data the extension accesses, why it requires specific permissions, and how your information is protected.
The Core Promise: We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifying information (PII) or ad account data to external servers. All ad group processing happens locally on your device.
To function correctly, the extension requests the absolute minimum number of permissions required. Here is a transparent breakdown of what we use and why:
Permission
Purpose
activeTab
Grants access to the currently active tab to perform user-initiated editing. This only activates when you explicitly click the extension icon.
scripting
Allows the extension to execute content scripts that interact with page elements (clicking buttons, filling forms) on your active tab for bulk editing.
storage
Saves your editing progress, configuration settings, and license key locally on your device using chrome.storage.local. No cloud syncing is involved.
tabs
Opens additional tabs to allow parallel editing, which speeds up large batch operations. It only opens tabs within the same domain you are already browsing.
ads.google.com: The only website the extension interacts with. Used exclusively to read ad group data and automate bulk editing actions within your own account.
License & Analytics Server: Used solely for license validation (via a secure cryptographic hash), version-update checks, and anonymous usage analytics.
Reads ad group names and IDs from your active Google Ads tab to build a local work queue.
Automates navigation and button clicks on ad group edit pages to streamline your workflow.
Saves your progress, configurations, and local error logs directly to your device via chrome.storage.local.
Validates your license key by sending a secure, one-way SHA-256 hash to our verification server.
No Personal Data: Does NOT collect, store, or transmit personal details, login credentials, cookies, or authentication tokens.
No Account Leakage: Does NOT send any of your ad account data, campaign names, customer IDs, or scraped data to external servers.
No Cross-Site Tracking: Does NOT read or access data outside of ads.google.com, nor does it look at your browsing history, bookmarks, or other browser data.
No Background Running: Does NOT run silently in the background; it is active only when you click "Start".
No Third-Party Sharing: Does NOT sell, share, or sync your data to any third party or cloud service.
To protect the integrity of the software while respecting your privacy, the extension connects to our secure verification server for two specific tasks using a privacy-first approach:
Your license key is instantly converted into a SHA-256 hash locally on your machine.
Only this one-way cryptographic hash is sent to our server; your actual, readable license key never leaves your device.
The server simply responds with a basic confirmation (valid: true/false). No IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or identifying metrics are logged.
If the validation server is ever down, a 7-day offline grace period triggers automatically so your workflow isn't interrupted.
To help us prioritize bug fixes and performance updates, the extension transmits anonymous, aggregate usage events. This tracking runs automatically and cannot be toggled off.
What is sent: A completely anonymous identifier (the SHA-256 hash for paid users, or a random UUID for free trials); basic run configurations (extension version, delay settings, parallel tab count); and aggregate counts per run (total ad groups processed, cleaned, skipped, or errored, run duration, and completion status).
What is absolutely excluded: No ad group names, no campaign details, no URLs, no screenshots, no free-form error logs, and no emails.
Events are safely batched inside your local storage and flushed only when a cleaning run finishes.
Total Local Control: All progress data, configurations, and error logs live exclusively on your machine. You can wipe this data instantly by clicking "Reset Progress" in the extension menu, or by removing the extension via chrome://extensions.
Manual Execution: The extension never acts on its own. It only runs when you click Start, and you can hit Stop at any moment to halt all automated activity instantly.
Encryption: Any communication with our verification endpoints occurs strictly over secure HTTPS channels.
Children's Privacy: This extension is a business productivity tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Policy Updates: We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect extension updates. Any changes will be updated directly on this page. Your continued use of Ad Group Cleaner implies acceptance of the updated terms.
