Safety and Health issued an article on a research project done in Western Costa del Sol, southern Spain. During the summer of 2018, subjects were recruited during a skin cancer prevention course for beach lifeguards overexposed to ultraviolet radiation. Two hundred fifteen lifeguards completed the questionnaire, and 109 mean age was 23.8 years , 78.0% were male, 71.5% were photo-type III or IV , and 77.1% had experienced at least one painful sunburn during the previous summer which increased their chances of getting skin cancer.
With this project, we want to create
a product that will prevent skin
cancer for beach lifeguards. The
main goal for this product is to
make it easy for lifeguards to
access sunscreen, have an hourly
reminder for them to reapply the
sunscreen, decrease the likeliness
of lifeguards to get skin cancer, and
spread awareness for skin cancer.
About Me
My name is Adriel Lira, and I am currently a senior at Chapin High School in El Paso, Texas, where I'm enrolled in the Magnet Program. I will be graduating this June and afterwards, I will be attending Texas Tech in the fall of 2023, where I will be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Architectural/Civil Engineering. I have always been inquisitive of the architecture of many unique buildings, which is the reason why I chose to pursue this as my major.
