Adaptability and Learning New Technology
I was given the opportunity to be a facilitator with the non-profit Trust Tree that teaches girls and LGBTQ+ youth music and visual art. I got to work alongside educators Jordan Wolf and Mel Castellano during our wearable art camp. During this camp, I had my first teaching opportunity, teaching the children to create keychains inspired by my own using colored pencils, glitter and paint. I also helped assist with arrival and dismissal of the children.
I am a fill in as needed person for the store front at AR-T’s. There I am responsible for keeping the store front neat and clean as well as restocking the t-shirts as they sell down.
At the Van Gogh experience, I assisted with inventory by tagging, counting, and organizing. When not working in the back of house, I either checked in our guests or was stationed in the Virtual Reality portion of the experience.
The museum is my current place of employment. There I function as a key holder, where I’m responsible for opening and closing the store as well as fixing our technology when problems arise. I also keep a part of the store organized with our products. My daily tasks include greeting guests, signing guests up with memberships, checking them out, gift wrapping, and being available to give customers additional information about the wide variety of products we have in the store.
In order to complete my degree, I interned with Little Rock artist Slugknives (Jenna Jones). One of my duties included assisting in the wood shop and sanding and gessoing her wood cut pieces. I also helped her install her show at the Central Arkansas Library System Roberts Library.
At Loft, I started off as a Sales Associate and moved up to become a Sales Lead. As a Sales Lead, I was in charge of opening and closing the store, keeping the sales floor tidy, and organizing backstock. I also completed deposits, tagged clothing, and filled and packaged online orders.
I got the opportunity to work with New York based artist, Sharon Louden. Alongside Louden, my team of other interns and I sourced materials, created designs, installed these designs with colored glass and mulch, and made a semi-permanent art installation on The University of Central Arkansas’s Alumni Circle. The installation project was named Suffrage Rugs and it celebrated the Women’s Suffrage Centennial.
I completed my degree at the University of Central Arkansas. There I was featured in several art shows such as the Annual Student Competitive and the Senior Showcase. University of Central Arkansas is also where I completed my internship installation project, Suffrage Rugs, led by artist Sharon Louden.
