Assistant Professor
Whitman College
I received my PhD from Kansas State University in Spring 2024 and I'll be starting a position as an Assistant Professor at Whitman College in Fall 2024. I was born and raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico and I went to the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Discrete Mathematics. My research is in Graph Theory and Optimization.
I am passionate about teaching, and specifically teaching math in a way that is accessible, approachable, and interesting for everyone. I am also passionate about promoting and advocating diversity and equity in STEM. As a hispanic women in mathematics, I know how important it is to build communities that promote our cultures and differences in a way that empowers each and every one of us. At K-State, I was one of the founding members of the K-State SACNAS Chapter and I hope to continue these efforts at Whitman College.
My fiancee, Malcolm Gabbard, is also a mathematician and he studies low-dimensional topology, specifically exotic 4-manifolds an exotically knotted surfaces. Check out his website here!
