I am Adrian Lopez. I am originally from Kearns, Utah, but have lived most of my life in Rigby, Idaho. I love to seek out new opportunities and experiences to grow. In high school, I was able to be a cross-age tutor for various elementary school classes and loved every minute of it. I am continuing my education at Brigham Young University-Idaho and look forward to a bright future ahead.
I am a learner and a teacher. It is important to be open to new ideas and to always improve, learn, and grow, just as I hope my students will be. I believe that my job as an educator is to prepare each of my students for the world; to be able to find success; to respect and treat others with kindness; to instill in them a chance to continually improve and seek for that improvement. As David A. Bednar wrote, "our individual responsibility to learn truth, to love truth, and to live according to truth is increasingly important," in this world.
The role of the student is to be open to learning, to see their own potential, and to see their peers' divine nature as well. The curriculum and the classroom should be a tool for the students to reach these goals and find those qualities in the world around them. John Dewey, an educational giant, once said that, "education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." I hope to instill a lifelong passion for learning within my students and be an example of this as well. Education truly is a beautiful thing I hope all can appreciate and utilize.
