My research interests include but not limited to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Wireless Communication and Networks, resource optimization, 5G/6G networks, satellite communications, Internet of Things, localization, digital health, etc.
Adnan Shahid (M’15 - SM’17) received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, Pakistan, in 2006 and 2010, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Information and Communication Engineering from Sejong University, South Korea in 2015. From Mar 2015 until Aug 2015, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Yonsei University, South Korea. From Sep 2015 until Jun 2016, he worked as an Assistant Professor at Taif University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is currently working as a Senior Researcher at IDLab, which is a core research group of imec with research activities embedded within Ghent University and the University of Antwerp. He is the lead of “AI/ML for Wireless” group at iWiNE/IDLab/UGENT. He is currently technically leading the Erasmus+ DigiHealth-Asia project (2021-2024) and the ESA MRC100 - AI/ML for ACM (2022-2023). He has been the technical manager of the European Space Agency CODYSUN project. He has been involved in several projects: DARPA Spectrum Collaboration Challenge (SC2), European H2020 research projects, such as eWINE and WiSHFUL, and national projects, such as SAMURAI, IDEAL-IOT, and Cognitive Wireless Networking Management. He is a voting member and the Secretary of IEEE P1900.8 - Standard for Training, Testing, and Evaluating Machine-Learned Spectrum Awareness Models. He is the author or coauthor of more than 80 plus publications in well-known journals and conferences. His research interests include resource optimization, interference management, self-organizing networks, small cell networks, machine learning, artificial intelligence, internet of things, localization, and 5G/xG networks. He is also serving as an Associate Editor in various journals, such as IEEE Access and the Journal of Networks and Computer Application (JNCA), Elsevier.
