An Elicitation Study of Foot Gestures for Surgeons: Interaction with Radiological Images in the Operation Theatre

This project aims to help surgeons and developers to implement and get accustomed to foot based gestural inputs while performing an operation at an operation theater. Here participants have performed various actions for interacting with radio-logical images that are quite often used by surgeons in an operation theater. The participants have used their dominant foot to perform the actions and are then taken into consideration to find the consensus of the performed action. Around 32 participants intuitively performed gestures with their dominant foot and generated 5 most suitable foot gestures to execute 4 common medical image interaction commands (i.e. scrolling, rotation, translation, and scaling) in two different postures, either standing or sitting.Our findings indicate that general pointing devices (i.e. mouse, touch-pad, etc.) and the transformation of a medical image strongly influence the users’ mental model.

Sign Language detection using depth images

Sign language is a blessing for people with limited vocabulary or disabilities. For that reason there has been many projects and research activities to find out automated recognition and augmentation of these sign language alphabets and vocabulary. This project aims to recognize standard ASL sign language using depth camera images. The reasoning behind using depth camera is, people are using their smartphones that now contains depth cameras by default and are really good for augmented or virtual reality placement. So using depth camera it is easier to project these augmentation.

Data Scrapping for E-Commerce Systems

Supervised undergraduate project at Stamford University Bangladesh.

This project aims to develop a system that will be a database less and personalized e-commerce system that provides the best deals over the internet. Data was scrapped from most common and authentic websites. The data was then processed and presented to the user. The dynamic system allows users to interact with the products that are of interest to them. It provides a personalization to the data to the user as the products were cherry picked based on the client's interests.
