Businayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering is an autonomous engineering college in Basavangudi, Bangalore, India. It is an autonomous college, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University(VTU), Belagavi. The engineering college, started in 1946 by B. M. Sreenivasiah, was the first private sector initiative in technical education in India and is run by the BMS Educational Trust. It was affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University from 1998 to 2008, and became autonomous in 2008. BMSCE is located on the Basavangudi Area Bull Temple Road, diagonally opposite to the famous Bull Temple. Though a private engineering college, it is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka.

Admission criteria:

Students are admitted to undergraduate courses on basis of their merit in the Karnataka CET test, or in the COMED-K undergraduate test. Students are also admitted through a management quota, which does not place merit requirements. There is a lateral entry scheme in place, by which students holding diploma degrees can enter directly to the second year of study in engineering. Students, upon graduating, receive a Bachelor of Engineering or a Bachelor of Architecture degree.Students are admitted to postgraduate courses on basis of their GATE test scores, as well as on their Post Graduate Karnataka CET scores.

Admission process for UG programs

Admissions are done as per the Government of Karnataka norms and the admission matrix is announced by them.

Out of the total seats 45% of the seats arc filled by the Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), 30% of seats are filled through Common Entrance Test conducted by Private managements association (COMED-K) and 25%f by management, all by merit.

Common entrance test (CET) conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), a state agency for candidates who are domicile of Karnataka for seven years or wore.

Common test conducted by Karnataka unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association Authority (i.e. COMED-K) for both Karnataka & Now-Karnataka candidates aspiring for Engineering, medical and Dental seats.

The above admissions are purely based on merit and as per reservation norms laid down by the Government of Karnataka from time to time.

The minimum percentage of marks is followed as pet’ AICTE norms.

Admission process for PG

Admission to Post graduate courses is as per the KEA norms.

Score in the Graduate .aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) is the primary criterion, in addition common entrance test is conducted by state agency (KEA) ie PGCET for admission to PG programs.

GATE/ PGCET (KEA) entrance examination quota (Only for Karnataka students) is 80% And management Quota is 20%

The minimum percentage in eligibility examination for admission in PG programs is 50% in case of GM and 45% in case of SC/ST

Admission process for MCA

Admission to MCA programmed for Karnataka candidates is made based on either PGCET conducted by KEA and also for Karnataka and Non Karnataka candidates through PGCET / KMAT conducted by Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association Authority.

The minimums percentage in eligibility examination for admission in PG programs in 50% in case of GM and 45% in case of SC/ST

The admission process for DGCA program is followed as per the Government of Karnataka norms which consist of, 50% through PGCET (KEA) entrance examination and 50% through KMAT / PGCET.

There is a provision for lateral Entry of 20% of intake through KEA counseling.
