Winter Bird Walk
SUNY ESF Ranger School
257 Ranger School Road / Wanakena
8 - 11 AM

Northern New York Audubon is sponsoring a winter bird walk in the James Dubuar forest as part of the Adirondack White Out Weekend. Along with Mary Beth Warburton of NNYA, Ranger School faculty Vanessa Rojas and Julie Fogden will co-lead the walk.

We will meet in the Dining Room of the main Ranger School building for a light breakfast and brief introduction, then divide into groups, as necessary, and head outside by 8:30 to view the bird activity on the Ranger School Campus.  At approximately 10:00  we'll return  to the Ranger School for a quick warm up & bathroom break before heading into Wanakena to explore a trail in the 5 Ponds Wilderness Area.  Later, on your own, you may want to visit the bird feeding station near the Wanakena Labyrinth and see who's stopping by for a treat.

Parking is available in front of the Ranger School by the river. Limited handicap accessible parking is behind the building.
Parking is also available near the 5 Ponds Wilderness trailhead.
Dress for the weather.  A limited number of binoculars are available for those who do not have their own.
