SER President Patricia Hardin
The chest holds many treasures of our sisterhood. As you were growing up, you found many treasures and stored them in a special place. The chest in the logo also has special storage and meaning.
The golden coins represent the numerous scholarship opportunities as the well as the available grants provided by our organization. Through our generous giving the coins even assist sisters around the globe when disaster strikes.
Located on top of the coins is a book significant to the love of learning and the teaching we do daily within our classrooms sharing our talents and skills with our students. When not at work, many of us find a few minutes for personal enrichment as we wrap ourselves within the story line.
Found on the end of the wooden chest is a pendant dangling from a strand of pearls. The flower bloom of purple represents our Violet sisters while the silver and gold metal indicate the value of our Silver and Golden sisters. At the center of the bloom, you will find a Diamond for our sixty-year sisters. Platinum’s sisters are represented by the strong encasement that supports and binds the chest together.
Located in the front of the chest are two pieces of jewelry, the pearl necklace and the chain with the seven regional states. Although we enjoy the beauty of pearls, it is a timely process waiting for the formation. Irritation from a single grain of sand results in layers and layers of protection forming a barrier to reduce discomfort. Over time the protective layers form the beautiful jewel. To become a Seven Pearl chapter, we also must experience discomfort and inconvenience in completing the needed forms and information in a timely manner. The chain bracelet displays the seven wonderful states of our region. By working together success for one is success for all.
It is my hope that during the next two years more and more states will elect to complete the needed challenges and become a seven-pearl chapter. Step away from your comfort zone and begin to try new things. Consider new program ideas or try hosting a joint meeting (in person or via zoom) with another chapter in your nearby area. Extend the opportunity across state lines if possible. Step up in your chapter or district by accepting a leadership role.
Remember that “Together We Will” work to develop many “Treasurers of Sisterhood” during this biennium.
