KOTA KINABALU, 28 August 2025 — North Borneo University College (NBUC) formally conferred the title of Adjunct Professor in Business Administration upon Jessie Jong Chung Jin, ASDK, during its 5th Convocation Ceremony held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
The conferment, approved by the NBUC Board of Governors, was presented in recognition of her longstanding contributions to business development, entrepreneurship, industry engagement, and community-related initiatives within Sabah.
In its official statement, the university noted that the appointment reflected recognition of Jessie Jong’s professional achievements, leadership experience, and continued involvement across industry and social development platforms.
“North Borneo University College is honoured to collaborate with Madam Jessie Jong Chung Jin and looks forward to her continued support and contributions towards the successful future growth of the university,” the institution stated.
Observers noted that Adjunct Professorships are generally conferred upon individuals whose professional standing, practical experience, and public contributions are considered valuable in strengthening industry-academic engagement and real-world perspectives within higher education.
Jessie Jong holds ACCA professional qualifications and a Master’s degree in Management, with professional experience spanning accounting, business investment, entrepreneurship, and advisory roles, including earlier corporate exposure with Wong & Partners and Ernst & Young.
At the time, she was also a doctoral candidate focusing on sustainable agro-tourism research, while further expanding her interest into Smart Ageing-related issues, with several research publications and policy-orientated discussions underway.
During a brief interview following the ceremony, Jessie Jong described the conferment as meaningful recognition of the importance of integrating practical industry perspectives with broader developmental and educational discussions.
“I believe there is increasing importance in creating stronger connections between academia, industry, and society. Many future challenges require not only academic understanding, but also practical perspectives and long-term thinking,” she said.
She added that meaningful progress often comes through collaboration across different sectors, particularly in areas linked to sustainability, economic resilience, and community development.
The conferment further strengthened her profile within Sabah’s business and institutional circles, particularly as a figure associated with entrepreneurship, strategic engagement, and community-orientated initiatives.
