The SACPCMP, a leading professional body of construction and project managers in South Africa, organized a conference and masterclass on the 13th and 14th of November 2023 at the Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg, attended by key stakeholders in the South African Built Environment.
Alongside other team members at the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in the Built Environment (CARINBE) at the University of Johannesburg, we hosted a digitalization masterclass as part of activities at the conference. The masterclass titled “Strengthening the Implementation of Digitalisation” witnessed a considerable attendance of over 200 construction and project managers in South Africa.
In delivering his address, the South African Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Sihle Zikalala, reiterated the importance of digitalization in curbing corruption and enhancing productivity. He also highlighted the need to drive BIM implementation and blockchain in the industry.
Our research report on digitalization in the South African built Environment was also presented shortly after the minister’s address and received overwhelmingly positive feedback.
