Our centre opened its doors in Kota Kemuning in March 2013. We started by offering English and Bahasa Melayu lessons for students ranging from standard 1 to form 5. Eventually, there was a higher demand for 1-to-1 lessons.
The centre was founded by a mother-daughter team, Ms Adell Beins and her daughter Ms Desiree Kaur. Both of them were driven by their passion to provide a place offering a learner centre approach to teaching.
Our social responsibility arm is called Project Haans. It aims to makes information accessible and affordable for families with special needs individuals. Project Haans also has learning modules on special needs on the Open Learning Platform, here.
Adell Beins has a Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from London Teacher's Training College and a Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers & Trainers (CIDTT) from Cambridge. She pursued both these courses in her 60's having already been teaching for over 15 years prior.
She taught for many years from the comfort of her own home, with students coming to her due to her natural knack for teaching languages (English & BM) and history. So, when her daughter, Desiree approached her to formalise a centre, she jumped at the opportunity.
Adells is currently enjoying her life as a retiree and is pleased that the centre established by her still carries her good name.
Desiree Kaur has a Master in Education (Special Education) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bachelor in Communication (Hons) from Universitiy Sains Malaysia (USM), Diploma in Public Relations from Taylor's College and a Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers & Trainers (CIDTT) from Cambridge.
She's been in the education industry since 2012, when she began tutoring part-time and eventually joined forces with her mother Adell, to open Adells Learning Centre. Additionally, Desiree advocates actively for autism and neurodiversity through her own initiative, Project Haans and is a contributor to parenting portal Makchic.
