These are some of my non-research projects that I'm particularly proud of. I have a strong personal interest in communicating data science to non-technical audiences, and I'm excited by intersections of modern machine learning with public policy and education.

Citadel Global PhD Datathon 2023, First Place

I had a lot of fun participating in this data analysis competition: participants were given the same dataset, and asked to come up with their own research questions and analysis. I analyzed a combination of a dataset of article headlines from Upworthy.com with my own GPT-generated headlines to look at how the headlines generated by LLM models (in 2023) compared to successful human-written headlines. Science Policy Outreach Task Force (SPOT) 1-pager

I worked with the UChicago chapter of SPOT at Northwestern University to draft a one-pager on trustworthy and ethical AI for Illinois. These one-pagers aim to summarize technical topics that are relevant for Illinois policy makers in accessible and concise language, as well as provide comprehensive references for followup. The UChicago team was thrilled to share our 1-pagers with the office of Rep. Kam Buckner. You can read my 1-pager here.
