Advanced Display & Electronics Laboratory (ADEL)
ADEL pursues a unified research vision that integrates advanced backplane technologies for active-matrix LEDs, neuromorphic devices, and wearable electronic platforms, ultimately driving innovation in next-generation displays, semiconductor devices, and bio-integrated intelligent system
Research Interests
Active-Matrix LEDs with Advanced Backplanes
Our research develops active-matrix quantum dot LEDs (QLEDs) by integrating thin-film transistors (TFTs) with metal-oxide semiconductors, one-dimensional (Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes, SWNTs), and two-dimensional materials (Transition Metal Dichalcogenides, TMDs) as backplane technologies. This strategy enables precise pixel control, high-resolution display operation, and improved driving stability. Moving forward, we aim to establish QLEDoS (Quantum-dot Light-Emitting Diode on Silicon) platforms to realize ultra-high-resolution, large-area, and energy-efficient displays.
Neuromorphic and Wearable Applications
We design neuromorphic electronic devices based on binary metal oxide and QD synapses that emulate synaptic plasticity, enabling energy-efficient computing for next-generation AI hardware. In parallel, we develop flexible and stretchable bio-integrated electronics, including skin-attachable LEDs, wearable sensors, and neuromorphic circuits, which provide seamless human–machine interfaces and biomedical applications. Together, these efforts converge toward adaptive, intelligent, and body-compatible electronic systems.
