Through my school, I was tasked with designing and painting the backdrop for the fall 2025 musical, Little Shop of Horrors. This page will detail my process and design for the final set. This was a large project for me. The set would be 9 feet tall and 34 feet wide, larger than any project I had ever completed before. Near the end of this project, I asked some of my peers to help me finish painting the large color blocks. I worked on this from the beginning of October to the beginning of November, when the play opened.Â

I created three mockups for the initial design for this set. The play is set in skid row, and the set was to feel moody and run-down. I came up with three initial color compositions, and after collaboration with the director, I ended up choosing the third option.
