Understanding substance use in real-world contexts
The acronym that Addiction Dynamics Lab (ADL) creates is also commonly used in medical settings and stands for "activities of daily living." I learned this acronym on my clinical internship, and it struck me that this concept is meant to anchor individuals' medical concerns in the context of their everyday lives. This idea aligns nicely with my research, which often uses daily-life assessment methods and always seeks to understand how addiction-related psychological processes unfold in individuals' natural environments.
