Dr. Adarsh Nigam is an Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering at Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), India. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Jodhpur, India, where his research focused on the design and fabrication of AlGaN/GaN transistor-based sensors for environmental monitoring. His research focuses on semiconductor devices, microsystems, nanomaterials, and intelligent sensing technologies, with particular emphasis on AlGaN/GaN High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMTs), MEMS, and next-generation environmental sensors.
Prior to joining MAHE, he worked as a Research Associate at The University of Edinburgh, UK, and IIT Hyderabad, where he contributed to advanced research in sensor integration, semiconductor microfabrication, and microsystems engineering. His research has led to the development of ultra-sensitive sensing platforms for detecting toxic heavy metal ions in water using GaN-based transistors and two-dimensional nanomaterials.
Dr. Adarsh has authored numerous publications in leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Sensors Journal, Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, Scientific Reports and Nanotechnology. His current research interests span semiconductor sensors, large-area electronics, flexible devices, AI-assisted sensing systems, and IoT-enabled smart monitoring platforms.
He received the European Commission’s Seal of Excellence for his Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship proposal and is a Life maember of the Materials Research Society of India, and the Semiconductor Society (India).
