I was making a document on Indesign, importing photos and maps etc and it was fine but then suddenly all the photos with a white/ grey background have turned a blue hue. I dont know what has happened or how to get it back to normal?

I know that you can change the preview mode background color in Preferences>Guides and Pasteboards. When I was working on a document, without going into preferences, my preview mode (shortcut: W) randomly turned black. I am assuming I pressed some keyboard shortcut accidentally or it was a glitch? I went into the Preferences to change the color back to gray, and the background was now set as Black, even though I did not change it in Preferences originally. Anyone know what's up?

After coming back from holidays it seems my snap to objects feature and the "green lines" are turned off (something I may have done somehow...who knows). That is when an object gets close to the line of another object it used to snap/click into place, instead of me having to manual line it up on super zoom-in.

I'm using indesign 2019 and it keeps snapping no matter what, other people have had this problem from what I've found but I can't find a solution. I'm using windows 10, I've turned off all the snap to options, I've looked for things in preferences and can't find anything

Hi, I have a lenovo laptop and have the same issue when moving images or scaling them. It flickers and is incredibly difficult to work with. I resolved the issue momentarily by uninstalling indesign completely then reinstalling it. However, the issue came back out of nowhere even after repeating the reinstalling process the second time. I just bought my laptop last year so it is pretty much new. Help :(

I'm at work and checking these suggestions as they come in on what I'm currently working on. I should say rechecking because I think I've tried everything but taking a second look makes me notice more specifics. Objects snap wherever they are on the document and at even increments. It doesn't depend on proximity to other objects or guides. It's like they're snapping to an invisible grid that's everywhere but, as I said previously, "snap to document grid" is definitely turned off.

Peter, snap to the grid was still turned off. In past situation for previous version of InDesign when some things in a document got corrupt, I was able to resolve the problem by pasting the stuff into a new document. I forget what the particular problems were but creating a new document and pasting stuff in it from the old document fixed it. Don't know if this is the case here.

Maybe also, trying a fresh install or under a new Mac user might help? I heard Adobe Illustrator doesn't even run on the Surface Book 2 hah what?! -us/surface/forum/all/surface-book-2-cant-deal-with-adobe-indesign/d7e177ff-bad7-4bc7-9a41-618076dc555d?auth=1

Same thing here, seriously wtf Adobe?! I've already had another font issue with Gujarati Sangam MN having zero spacing in 2019 ver. -adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/37487995-no-font-spacing-between-words-in-indesign-2019-14

After duplicating the file to make a small update on page 50 of a catalog. InDesign suddenly turned ramdom pages bacgrounds to grey. The pages have still their content but pages blank when exported to pdf format. This issue remains with the GPU preview on and off. No changes were made to master pages. Correction made to the cover which it displays correctly.

yah its view- i can edit anything and what not, but I just can't see my margin, guides, bleed and obviously the background is black.i've tried exiting the program and restarting and this file continues to do this even though i didn't change anything. do the guides looks correctly set up on this? i'm a new indesign user in school and my teacher doesn't know waht to do either lol.

More fun for me with my adobe apps. I updated my apps yesterday (photoshop, illustrator, indesign, XD) and all of my illustrator documents are showing up as XD documents now. I am able to open them up by right clicking on the in the finder and using the "open with" command to open them correctly in illustrator. Once I do that, I must "save as" an illustrator file.

I'm trying to build a new template for a project, but am also trying to copy over some paragraph styles from the old template to save some time. In the original doc I'm breaking the link to the style, cleaning it up, copying it over to the new template, then setting up a new pgh style (trying to clean things up). However every time I do this and try to make a new style, it's including all this junk in there about paragraph borders and shading, even though those are NOT turned on at all. See pics for what I mean. It's driving me nuts, and I just want CLEAN STYLES, Y'ALL!! Anyone ever seen this?

Hello. I am having issues with getting a gradient fill from Illustrator to Indesign. I created the gradient in Illustrator, but when I try to copy and paste it into Indesign, it converts to a black and white gradient. (It's supposed to be a blue to purple). I have turned on AICB and preserve paths in Illustrator and turned off prefer PDF when pasting in Indesign. I can't figure out what is going on. Any suggestions?

I want to stop hypernation being the norm in my indesign. I want it to be normal to have no hypernation at all. Every time I open a document I have to start again. Is there any way to permanently make the option be No Hypernation?

Within Preferences > Advanced Type > Type Contextual Controls are two switches that can slow down and even crash InDesign. When turned on, InDesign has to constantly generate flyouts for alternate characters, ordinals, and ligatures. These things can usually be provided in a paragraph and/or character style.

If none of these options work for you try exporting your project as a PNG. Export your image at 300ppi or better with transparency turned off, or for a cleaner look drop your PDF into Photoshop at 600 ppi, flatten all layers, and reexport without transparency. Then once you have your flattened images drag them back into InDesign and reexport your project as a PDF using only a single PNG layer.

Sometimes white boxes will appear around the text when dropping the PDF into indesign. If this happens this is also a good sign that the PDF was exported incorrectly, and you will have to go back over your preflight check again and check for errors. be457b7860
