Dear You,
My name is Adam Blutter, and I am having an upcoming ceremony for my Bar Mitzvah. To celebrate, I am choosing to participate in a Bar Mitzvah project dedicated to Musical Theatre.
My dance studio Bender Performing Arts, more specifically the musical theatre department, and I have partnered to bring our upcoming production The Little Mermaid Jr to under-privileged children and families who haven’t gotten to experience the motivation and joy out of a live theater production.
Bender Performing Arts was originally founded in 1974 by Betty Johnson. After expansion, Mr. & Mrs. Bender completed renovations in 2006, and the studio is now called “Bender Performing Arts”. Their wonderful Musical Theatre department opened in 2016, and annually completed productions such as Little Mermaid Jr (2016), Willy Wonka Jr, (2017), Wizard of Oz Jr (2018), Lion King, Jr (2019), Mary Poppins Jr, (2020), Shrek Jr, (2021), Beauty and the Beast Jr (2022), Matilda Jr (2023), Peter Pan Jr (2024), and Seussical Jr (2025). Each Bender Musical Theater production is professionally completed, with professional lighting, curtains, dancing, and singing.
In 2025, there were over 200 participants, and coming up in 2026 over 300 participants. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Musical Theatre at Bender, The Little Mermaid is making a comeback!
Kids’ character development, their personality & more are all affected by seeing a live production. This is especially accurate for hard-times, like listening to a song that completely relates to you, or seeing a show that portrays different emotions. These all will have lasting impacts. Productions show/give children a boost of brain power by affecting memory, attention & problem-solving skills, giving enhanced creativity within themselves via song, contributing to their personality and characteristics. Impacts can also be emotional, children will show empathy for a character who may be let down (eg. Ariel, by her father, King Triton), builds emotional intelligence by using key defining words to describe an emotion portrayed or felt, which can even lead to children finding ways to process hardship, and shared experiences for all.
Taking all of this into consideration, we are asking for your help bringing theater to children who are under-privileged and might not otherwise see a production. I am asking for help so I can help make a lasting impact, such as helping build self-esteem and empathy. We are asking you ... .to sponsor a seat to give children & families in need the opportunity to see Bender’s production of The Little Mermaid Jr. You would buy a seat, or seats, for $20 each so that they can see it for free. You can also donate towards a seat if you want to donate less than $20. I will have a form for donors to fill out and you can pay with cash, a check, or a credit card. Thank you so much for your help.
