I want to take a moment to thank all the Douglas County residents who partook in this primary election by voting. As an elected public servant, I can say that your votes matter and I am proud that you have chosen to entrust me with this office. Becoming treasurer is a goal that I have actively been working toward for the last 5 years. In doing so, I spent countless hours applying studied topics while considering my role within the treasurer’s office. I was fortunate that the current Treasurer, Paula was an encouraging boss who allowed me to utilize the education as I acquired it in order to contribute to the improvement of both the work environment and the taxpayer experience. Thank you for giving me the chance to do so. While I have many people to thank tonight, I want to say a big thank you to my friends and family. I want to thank those who endorsed me- Craig, Cindy, Paige, Ana, Tracy, KU Young Dems and KS young Dems. Additionally, I was fortunate to have several folks helping me to campaign who really put in a lot of work and kept me thinking positively throughout this process: KT, Kate, Terry, and Aaron. Again, thank you to the voting taxpayers. Thanks to those who donated, spent your time, shared your knowledge or anything else to help my campaign.

I also want to thank Timothy for running a solid campaign and for the friendly competition that will benefit the taxpayers. Timothy has a strong desire to serve the public, he has shared his ideas which takes a lot of courage, and vulnerability, and I respect that! Timothy you were a motivated, uplifting competitor, you should be proud of your work during your campaign.

Again, thanks to everyone who voted! I look forward to serving as the next Douglas County Treasurer!

Adam Rains

Deputy Treasurer, Adam Rains, MPA is running for Douglas County Treasurer. The Treasurer's Office is responsible for collecting real estate, personal property, and motor vehicle taxes. Adam has happily worked for Douglas County for the past 6 years. His leadership has helped the office streamline procedures and become more efficient in processing motor vehicle transactions. The Douglas County Democrats are hosting an online Forum on Tuesday, July 14th at 7:00 p.m. This will be a Zoom Webinar, everyone is invited to join! This event will host both the Treasurer and Register of Deeds candidates, since there is no Republican candidate the Primary will decide the representatives. #VoteAdam!

June 27, 2020

If elected County Treasurer, I promise to continue to work hard for our community members. In the last several weeks I have been diligently working to keep our services operating. I have created a system to improve tracking of pending work, built an additional drop box for customer use, responded to hundreds of e-mails and phone calls, and I have processed thousands of web renewals. I have also streamlined our process for handling mail, decreasing the processing time. This week, I have changed our phone system to allow more calls in, reducing the chances of call in customers receiving a busy signal. I arrive early, and most days stay late. I do this because I care about the taxpayers and the office staff.

The Treasurer’s office is dedicated to providing necessary services to our community members. Today, a team of employees, including myself, came into the office to process transactions to help meet the needs of the many customers needing service.

I am committed to continuing to work hard to better serve taxpayers, even after elected County Treasurer. I will strive for satisfied customers and staff through continued process evolution.

I know things are changing quickly, please be patient with us as we work to being fully open. We must keep taxpayers and staff safe!

As Deputy Treasurer I have helped implement new technology to reduce your time spent in the office, allowing you more time to yourself. I have also increased efficiencies with department policies that help make registering your vehicle easier. If elected Treasurer I will continue to improve our services to fit your needs. As our environment changes I will adapt to the demands of public! Public service is my passion and I hope to serve as the next Douglas County Treasurer.

I am proud to be a Democratic candidate for Douglas County Treasurer. The last 5 years I have aspired towards this goal. During that time, I have been appointed Deputy Treasurer, completed CPM (Certified Public Manager) certification and recently earned my Masters in Public Administration.

As a leader and supervisor I have worked to make the office a better place to work and visit. The office has continued to provide excellent customer service while abiding by State regulations. I have been an active participant in implementing new technology to better serve tax-payers with the goal of reducing time spent in the office and improving overall customer experience. I have also worked to improve office operations with new personnel policies and procedures. I enjoy working with a great group of people who share the same goal of providing excellent customer service in a timely fashion.

As Treasurer I will continue to make the office an efficient and safe place to visit and work. My experience and education have equipped me with the knowledge and tools to be the an effective Douglas County Treasurer
