I experimented with AI in way I have never done before. I used to think that a prompt for AI and search query were the same. Though they are similar, the ways that you can specialize prompts for AI results far greater answers than you would get from specializing search queries.
Prompt: Give me a workout routine
Response: ChatGPT give me a very broad response. The workout was a general split with upper and lower body alternating. It gave me specific workouts but things like intensity, rest, time etc. weren't included.
Prompt: From Monday to Friday, give me a time effective workout routine
Result: ChatGPT gave me a better answer this time. It gave me specific workouts that covered the full body over 5 days. It made the amount of time under an hour for each workout and it gave me rest lengths to achieve those time tables.
Prompt: I am a college student with limited times that I can go to the gym during the day. Give me a push, pull, legs workout routine that fits in abs and cardio over 7 days during the week. Make the workout schedule in between the hours of 10-12am and 10-12 pm and make the workouts in between 60 to 90 minutes.
Result: Using this prompt gave me alot more information than the other two prompts did. In the response it gave me workouts that I am more accustomed to doing. Telling the generative AI to give me a push, pull, legs split made the workout routines it gave me what I was looking for compared to the other prompts which were less based around body building. It also gave me a schedule where I could fit my workouts into the day. I also messed with the prompt somewhat to garner it towards more powerlifting.
Prompt Addition: Great! Everything looks good but I want the routines of the workouts to be more garnered towards powerlifting and bodybuilding
It modified the schedule slightly but kept the variation in times that I could work out with. It gave me less volumized workouts with higher intesity and longer rest periods.
AI is a fantastic tool for researching. I never really thought about the fact that it would be effective in giving information about any subject, but learning about it in class and experimenting with it showed me how resourceful it can be.
I plan on using AI in the future when researching variations of workout and with meal prep setup and recipe building
