Review

Most of the disaster risk assessments at present fail to account for the dynamic nature of variables used to characterize hazard and vulnerability and the interactions between these variables, as illustrated in the below figure.

The way information is generated and synthesized using new methods and practices, and varying social contexts in terms of their experiences and capacity, is changing over time. The information has to be updated over time to remain relevant. Therefore, ASEAN Dynamic risk Assessment Guidelines and Experiences (ADAGE), will be maintained as a live document, i.e. set of web pages online, to share relevant information on dynamic nature of variables using conceptual examples in order to develop guidelines of dynamic risk assessment in a collaborative environment.
