The Center for Transformative Education – Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences (CTE-FBeSS) aims to lead initiatives to empower individuals and societies into achieving their transformative potentials. The CTE’s program goals aim to educate participants and stakeholders and promote transformational change under the virtues of Truth, Excellence, and Service. It promotes the Philippine Normal University’s vision and mission which gives emphasis to ensure quality education, knowledge creation and application, a culture of sharing and service, growth, efficiency and accountability.
The Center for Transformative Education aims to utilize the expertise of educators in various transformative education areas in developing learning materials and research publications. The Center seeks to promote transformative education through research, symposia, conferences, and networks by creating learning environments conducive for collaboration and praxis with focus on teacher training and development. The Center will continue to strengthen its linkages and network which includes the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), UNESCO-APCEIU, and Asia-Pacific Network on International Education and Values Education (APNIEVE).
The Center for Transformative Education core functions are:
Research and Production- to conduct research projects on Transformative Education and its agenda with focus on teacher training and development; production or publication of research and pedagogical materials based on recent studies to promote Transformative Education
Education and Capacity Building- to provide learning opportunities and educational activities to promote Transformative Education to stakeholders
Linkages, Networking, and Advocacy - to establish and strengthen linkages and networks with higher learning institutions and other organizations while actively advancing and promoting Transformative Education agenda through different platforms and advocacies
