ACPS Performance Tasks

What are ACPS Performance Tasks?

Annual, divisionā€level administration of ACPS Performance Tasks provides information on student development of the skills and understandings needed to be a Lifelong Learner across grade levels and content areas. This element of student performance brings balance to the current ACPS assessment matrix and guarantees that all students are assessed on skills and understandings beyond the Virginia Standards of Learning by measuring ACPS Lifelong Learner Competencies.

ACPS Performance Tasks are the tasks that Albemarle County has identified for administration to all students in a grade level.

What's new with the ACPS Performance Tasks?

  • The 9th grade task will now be the CWRA assessment. The former 9th grade task, "Real or Fake News," will be given in 11th grade. (The previous 11th grade task "Make it Better" has been retired.)
  • The 10th grade task has been updated. (Previous task asked students to design a polygon deck. The new task asks students to redesign an existing school space.)
  • Tasks will no longer be referred to ask a "science" task or a "math" task. Tasks are organized by grade level and Lifelong Learner Competency only.

How will ACPS Performance Task data be used?

The data from the ACPS Performance Tasks are used by the principals, division-level leaders, and the ACPS School Board to evaluate the impact of instructional programs regarding student performance on the ACPS Lifelong Learner Competencies.
