About Us
As of 2026, Acoustic Revolt has grown into an unregistered de facto not-for-profit record label and live production organization that supports local and touring musicians with free booking services at local venues in San Diego, California. Also offering live sessions and contract recording opportunities, as well as benefit shows for various charities, Acoustic Revolt serves the community in a variety of ways. With an array of primarily punk-influenced artists who play locally, working in tandem with touring artists and full bands from all over, Acoustic Revolt connects local bars, clubs, and show venues with the talent that will thrive in their environment, bringing a community of supporters together for a spectacular music adventure!
History
In 2010, Acoustic Revolt was founded by Kevin White as an attempt to bring punk enthusiasts together for the sake of enjoying stripped down acoustic sets from local bands and solo performers alike. As lead singers teamed up with guitarists, and solo artists started traveling down from LA, these successful Acoustic Nights at The Rook Bar in La Mesa transformed into Acoustic Revolt around 2011, when shows launched in Normal Heights at Rosie O'Grady's. This delightful pub became the home base for Acoustic Revolt, and is still a valued music venue at the center of the world-famous Adams Avenue Street Fair and Adams Unplugged events. Unfortunately, due to some recent local challenges with live music noise complaints, today's shows are more often experienced at our other partner venues (Tower Bar, Black Cat Bar, Kensington Club, Winston's, Red Brontosaurus).
As of 2021, Acoustic Revolt branched out and has recently released a series of compilation charity volumes, featuring exclusive tracks which have been recorded as live sessions at the Normal Heights Acoustic Revolt Studio. These raw, emotive live end-to-end tracks are recorded and produced in the vein of the performance quality and tone associated with each musician's live performances. Free from punch-in edits, we truly aim to capture the artists just as they are when you see them at an Acoustic Revolt show. Our charity benefactor, the San Diego Food Bank, receives all proceeds from album sales, Revolt Against Hunger events, album release shows, and festivals. In addition to attracting talent from Southern California, Acoustic Revolt has also reeled in artists from all over the United States and even Canada. Now, with two records complete, including 17 artists, our next volume three release will bring in the most exceptional talent to date, with contributions from artists that will span the entire continent of North America.
