Acoustic Chrono Privacy Policy

Acoustic Chrono is provided by AcousticChrono, operated by Matt Hyland ("we", "us" or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the Acoustic Chrono mobile application accesses, uses, stores and shares information.

Summary

Acoustic Chrono is designed as a local-first application. Bow and arrow profiles, shot information, calculated results and recordings are stored on the user's device. We do not operate user accounts, advertising, analytics, remote diagnostic uploads or a cloud database for Acoustic Chrono.

Acoustic Chrono does not request or use location information and does not contact an online weather provider. The user enters ambient temperature manually. Atmospheric pressure is read locally from the phone's barometer when the device has one. If no barometer is available, the app uses and clearly identifies a standard-pressure assumption.

Information handled by the app

Audio recordings

When a user with recording access starts a recording, Acoustic Chrono uses the microphone to capture uncompressed audio containing the bow release, target impact and other sound audible near the phone. Recordings may therefore include voices or other private background audio.

Recordings are stored in the app's private storage on the device. They are used to display the waveform, identify release and impact markers, calculate shot results, support manual marker correction and provide diagnostic information.

Microphone access is requested only when the user initiates functionality that requires recording. Demo Mode does not require microphone permission.

Equipment, shot and environmental information

The app stores information entered or generated by the user, which may include:

• Bow and arrow profile information.

• Target range and range-measurement information.

• Manually entered ambient temperature.

• Atmospheric pressure read locally from the device barometer, or a clearly identified standard-pressure assumption.

• Audio sample positions, detected and manually corrected event markers.

• Calculation inputs, calculated values, confidence information and model versions.

• Shot history, dates and times.

• App settings and recording-retention preferences.

• Device and audio capabilities needed to diagnose recording quality.

This information remains on the device unless the user deliberately exports or shares it.

Bundled demonstration data

The application includes sample equipment profiles, recordings and shot results so that the workflow can be explored without recording a real shot. These bundled fixtures do not contain information collected from the user.

Pressure sensor

Where available, Acoustic Chrono reads atmospheric pressure from the phone's barometer. Sensor readings are processed locally and stored with the associated shot. Android does not require a runtime permission for the barometer. Apple devices may describe pressure-sensor access under Motion & Fitness permissions.

Purchase information

The Android application offers an optional one-time Google Play purchase for Lifetime Access. Google Play processes the payment and provides the app with product details, purchase state and a purchase token. Acoustic Chrono uses this information to grant, restore or revoke access.

The app stores authenticated entitlement evidence locally so that a previously verified purchase can continue to work temporarily when Google Play is unavailable. We do not receive or store the user's full payment-card details. Google handles purchase information under Google's own privacy policy and terms.

Information we do not collect

Acoustic Chrono does not provide us with or transmit to our servers:

• Audio recordings.

• Bow or arrow profiles.

• Shot history or calculated results.

• Location information.

• Contacts, photos or media libraries.

• Advertising identifiers.

• Analytics or behavioural tracking data.

• Crash reports or diagnostic files.

We do not sell user information and do not use user information for advertising.

Exports and sharing

Exports occur only when the user chooses to create or share a file. Exported files may contain equipment information, timestamps, environmental conditions, calculated results, graphs and private audio.

After an export is shared through the operating system, its handling is controlled by the destination selected by the user. Users should inspect exports and intended recipients before sharing them.

Storage, retention and deletion

Profiles, shots, recordings and settings remain on the device until the user deletes them, applies an in-app retention option or uninstalls the application. Available controls allow users to delete individual or all profiles, delete shot history and remove retained recordings.

Android automatic backup is disabled for the Acoustic Chrono database and recordings. On Apple devices, operating-system device backups may include application data according to the user's device and backup settings.

Because we do not operate accounts or receive the user's locally stored scientific data, we cannot retrieve or delete that information remotely. Users control it through the app, operating-system storage controls or application removal.

Data security

Acoustic Chrono uses app-private operating-system storage and platform security controls. Google Play purchase communication uses Google Play services. No security measure is absolute, and users should protect access to their device and review files before exporting them.

Children's privacy

Acoustic Chrono is an archery measurement and diagnostic tool and is not designed or directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Safety and measurement notice

Acoustic Chrono is an estimation and diagnostic tool, not a certified chronograph. Setup must be completed before drawing a bow. The phone must remain outside the arrow path and safe shooting practices must always be followed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the application, platform requirements or data practices change. The effective date and last-updated date at the top of this page will identify the current version.
