PASTOR Andy Duffey has been serving Antioch since the Spring of 2017. He has an Masters of Divinity from Bethany Theological Seminary and a Bachelors Degree in History from Bridgewater College. Andy grew up in central Maryland, where he felt called to set-apart ministry. After college and seminary, he married Courtney Flory of Bridgewater, VA.
Pastor Andy loves Jesus and believes the way of Jesus' love is the key to life. He has a passion for teaching the Bible and helping folks become disciples of Jesus. He has a respect for tradition, while not tied down to it. Andy believes that prayer and service are two sides of the same life of faith.
Outside of the church (and within as well), Andy loves exploring the worlds of fantasy and science fiction through reading and watching, making and discovering music (playing drums), spending time outside, and constantly learning and growing. He and Courtney have a son, Peter, and a dog, Bilbo.
WORSHIP at Antioch is informal and sometimes interactive. Both traditional hymns and contemporary songs are used, accompanied by organ, piano, guitar, and drum. A Bell Choir plays monthly, and occasionally a choir comes together for a Sunday. Most Sundays, Pastor Andy brings a message, sometimes as part of a thematic series, and a children's message. Any member of the church can serve as a worship leader. Kids serve as light-bringing acolytes. A Flower Committee arranges for beautiful, natural decorations.
Antioch is working to create alternative forms of worship experiences. Sometime we worship outside under the trees or a tent. Sometimes we have cafe-style worship in the fellowship hall with a breakfast served and seating around tables. We recognize that worship is not one-size-fits-all. Yet, our God meets us whenever, wherever, and however, if our hearts are centered on him.
