Rules:

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the current edition of the Racing Rules of

Sailing, as modified by Appendix E, the Sailing instructions and the Dragonforce One Design class rules.

Eligibility:

The regatta is open to all boats of the Dragonforce 65 USA class.

Boats must be registered with the DF65 USCOA,

(boats only registered, as RG65’s are not eligible to race)

Boats must comply with current class rules.


Entry:

Eligible boats may compete by completing the online entry forms and submitting them prior to

April 24th with the entry fee ($40) indicated on the entry form. (Web site link)


Sailing Instructions:

Sailing instructions and frequency assignments will be sent/given to all competitors

at the conclusion of the entry time period.

(A ten-minute break will be held after every 3th heat or at the discretion of the race committee)


Schedule: Saturday, May 2

8:30-9:30 – Registration & boat check in

9:30-9:45 – Skipper’s meeting & Group Picture.

10:00 – Racing begins

12:30-1:15 – Lunch break

Lunch and beverages (water, soda) will be provided for all competitors.

A survey E-mail, go be sent out to everyone about preferred lunch & drink choices.

1:15 – Racing resumes

4:00 – Racing concludes (no heat to start after 4:00pm)


Sunday, May 3

9:00-9:15 – Skipper Meeting

9:30-12:30 – Racing

12:30-1:00 – Lunch

1:00 – Awards & Pictures

2:00 – Event concluded.

Racing format:

Racing will be conducted in one fleet unless greater than 20 boats are registered. If

more than 20 are racing, the HMS (Heat Management System) may be utilized.

Scoring:

The regatta will be scored in accordance with the Low Point Scoring system as set forth in

Appendix A of the Racing Rules of Sailing. For each 8 races sailed, one worst score will be excluded from

the overall score.

Prizes:

Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in the regatta.


Measurements:

Measurement and class authenticity verification may be conducted on site on a

random basis as determined by the Regatta Director, during check in and registration.


Location:

Racing will be at Tom Scott Lake, which is the Southernmost pond in Sedgwick County Park

located in Wichita, Kansas. The park is located on the city’s Northwest side.

The pond features a sandy bottom and a wooden observation deck near the racing area. Competitors

will need to wear waterproof footwear to facilitate the launching of their boat. There is no dock.

Directions:

From I-235 north bound: Utilize exit 9 (13th Street west). Be prepared to merge into the right lane at

the end of the ramp/bridge. At the stoplight (North Shore Blvd), turn right off of 13th into the park.

Head left (west) at the ‘T’ intersection and follow the road around the west side of the pond. The

sailing area is on the west shore.

From I-235 south bound: Exit at Zoo Blvd (exit 10). Turn left (northwest) on Zoo Blvd. Stay in the left

lane. Turn left onto Windmill Road (first traffic light after turning onto Zoo Blvd). Follow Windmill Road

west to North Shore Blvd. Turn right into Sedgwick County Park. Stay left at the ‘T’ intersection and

follow the road around the west side of Tom Scott Lake. The sailing area is on
