The brain drain in developing countries creates a substantial gap for qualified resources in HCI. There’s absolutely no formal design education/HCI education available in Bangladesh, However, few HCI enthusiasts with the help of recently formed Dhaka ACM SIGCHI Chapter have been active to build a strong community of HCI professionals (BanglaCHI), and are very much in need for both training in the latest techniques and extending their network nationally and internationally.
Summer school aims:
The summer school is related to the Computer Human Interaction (CHI) conference.
We aim to attract participants all around the globe. Through the SIGCHI development fund, we aim to support students and educators, practitioners interested in HCI. The selection process for allocating the student scholarships will be juried and based on the student’s CV and letter of motivation.
We try to reach out to the participants who conduct research in this space but who do not traditionally participate in summer schools, with a particular emphasis on practitioners and researchers.
North South University Human Computer Interaction Research Group is a gathering of marvelous HCI academic researchers, interactive students and HCI experts from numerous industries in Bangladesh. The first initiatives have been taken by them to make Dhaka ACM SIGCHI Chapter through HCI academic and industry researchers in Bangladesh.
