A little bit about Açık Kapı Church
'Açık Kapı' is Turkish for 'Open Door'.
Why are we the "Open Door" Church?
It's Open Door because everyone is welcome!
We all come from different cultures and faith communities but all of us are trying to understand what this life is all about.
Açık Kapı Church is a place for Christians, Muslims, Atheists, Pagans, or people that haven't quite decided what they believe. At Açık Kapı as we study the Bible we try to understand what it means for both our spiritual lives and our daily lives as well.
What does it mean to be a church?
Many people hear the word and think of the ancient and beautiful buildings that have been built all over Turkiye and Europe for thousands of years. That isn't what the New Testament describes as the church though. In the Bible the church is 'the body of Christ' it is a community made of 'living stones' it's also called a 'spiritual temple'. Our community tries to live out these ideas, not just as a place of worship, but as a group of people trying to understand and love each other.
We do not belong to any particular denomination and we find that people from many backgrounds enjoy Açık Kapı as their church home. We are Protestant and Evangelical by most standards but we tend to be more interested in engaging each other in relationship and life transformation and stick by labels. We love Jesus and try to follow him well. If you have questions about specific theological questions we'd love for you to send us a message.
Legally we are a representative office of the International Protestant Church of Ankara organization. We have no connection to the 'Open Door' community of churches in America.
