In the spirit of British Traditional Wicca as a whole, we live by the phrase “in Perfect Love and in Perfect Trust”. In this we offer acceptance and compassion to each initiate as you are, for who you are in each moment.
Prospective members must be at least 18 years of age and should message us at acholt.seaxwica@gmail.com with a brief bio about their background and interests. From there a member will reach out to arrange a public meeting at a coffee shop to discuss specifics, and for both parties to feel out if it’s a good fit. Ácholt Inhíred reserves the right to refuse initiation to anyone, and will not tolerate homophobia, racism, or any persons that threaten the wellbeing of our members.
Once initiated there is no mandatory attendance, and your membership lasts as long as you desire to participate. Similarly, there are no dues - we are not interested in your money but encourage members to contribute to appropriate events by virtue of offerings or potluck materials.
Edit 11/04/2024: Please note new member initiations are currently closed. We plan to open to new additions in early 2024 after the Yuletide season. All responses to the initiation survey will be reviewed retroactively when the group next opens.
In keeping with Buckland’s original intent, this group is egalitarian at root – all members have equal stake in ritual and inhíred decisions, and ritual leaders are elected by the group at large. Similarly, members may back away from the group at any time. No bindings or curses are a part of this tradition. While there are no degrees in Seax Wica, the are series of helpful designations along the process of initiation:
Theow (th-O): This is not a Seax Witch. They may attend rituals or gatherings but are someone who is otherwise uninitiated or exploring the possibility of formal membership. A Theow may even be a supportive romantic partner, who attends meetings but is otherwise not affiliated with the group.
Ceorl (cawl): This is a person who has dedicated themselves to pursue initiation into the coven. Under the guidance of an appointed community member, the Ceorl is guided to the appropriate resources to learn about the practice. Wiccan tradition holds a year and a day before initiation; however, it is often unnecessary and the inhíred may grant initiation sooner.
Gesith (yes-ith): This is a Seax Witch proper, who has undergone the rite of initiation. There is no degree beyond this - all Gesith are considered equals within the circle and may occupy any role within ritual.
